Local authorities and organisations have been working together over the years to create a diverse range of routes, ensuring that riders can explore the region thoroughly. Mountain Bike Resorts in the Dolomites

Along with the biking, regions such as Val di Fassa enjoy a rich, traditional Alpine culture where the cuisine, people and architecture is a mix of Italian and Austrian, mixing efficiency and a love for good food, coffee and wine in a perfect melting pot.

The very best riding in the Dolomites can be found in Val di Fassa, a valley system found 3 hours north of Venice, 4 hours north east of Milan and around 2 hours south of the Austrian border. Canazei is the centre of the mountain biking scene, famous for holding several rounds of the Enduro World Series to great acclaim from the riders.

Alta Badia: Located in the South Tyrol region, Alta Badia is a popular destination for mountain biking in the Dolomites. The area offers a network of trails with varying difficulty levels, and the resorts provide bike-friendly amenities.

Val Gardena: Val Gardena, situated in the heart of the Dolomites, is known for its stunning landscapes and diverse biking trails. Several resorts in Val Gardena cater to mountain bikers, offering bike rental services, guided tours, and secure storage facilities.

Arabba: Arabba is a village located in the Belluno province and is part of the Dolomiti Superski area. It has gained popularity among mountain bikers for its challenging trails and high-altitude routes. Accommodations in Arabba often cater to bikers, providing necessary facilities.

Canazei Bike Park: Canazei has its own bike park, which is a popular destination for downhill enthusiasts. The park is equipped with lifts to transport riders and their bikes to the top of the trails, making it easier to enjoy the thrilling descents. The Canazei Bike Park features a variety of downhill and freeride trails suitable for different skill levels.

Val di Fassa Bike Park: Near Canazei, is home to a bike park offering a mix of downhill trails, jump lines, and technical descents. The park is accessible by lift, and riders can enjoy a range of features and obstacles tailored to different skill levels.

Ciampac: Be aware, the trails here are incredible, but very demanding, steep, technical and can only be accessed with an official guide, for safety reasons, many of the Enduro World Series best trails are here.

Belvedere Bike Park: Located on the Belvedere plateau near Canazei, this bike park offers a network of trails and features suitable for various biking styles. The park is known for its stunning views of the surrounding Dolomite peaks.

Col Rodella Trails: The Col Rodella area, accessible by lift from Canazei, provides additional mountain biking opportunities. Trails from Col Rodella offer panoramic views and various routes, allowing riders to explore the surrounding landscapes.

Marmolada Glacier Trails: For a more challenging and high-altitude experience, some trails near the Marmolada Glacier offer a unique biking adventure. These trails can be accessed from the Marmolada region, not far from Canazei.

Sellaronda MTB Tour

While not a designated zone per se, the Sellaronda MTB Tour is a significant mountain biking experience starting from Canazei. It circumnavigates the Sella Massif, covering approximately 58 kilometers with stunning scenery and varying terrains. The tour involves both uphill and downhill sections, providing a challenging and rewarding adventure.

Enduro World Series

Canazei has hosted multiple rounds of the Enduro World Series. Val di Fassa is host to a huge variety of riding trails, but the routes used for the EWS, now known as the EDR, are not the easy runs. They pick the toughest routes in Canazei park, and in other areas of the Val di Fassa, for the most part they are black or even more challenging. Some, such as Titans, can only be ridden with an official guide.

The riders enjoy the race here, even if does have some challenging climbs, what is certain is that it's a spectacular sport for a bike race, and you can ride many of the routes yourself on a trip here. There is pedigree in the riding here and the trails used for racing pose a real challenge.

Getting to Canazei

The best airports to fly into are Innsbruck in Austria, or Venice in Italy. Innsbruck is 2.5 hours away, while Venice is a little further at just under 3 hours. Either way the drive is spectacular, and the flight into Venice is also stunning with views of this incredible city and it's canals.

Airport transfers can be found on the Fassa Bike website and cost around €450 - €600 each way depending on the vehicle needed and the airport.
