WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO TRAVEL WITH MY BIKE?

Over the years we have seen many bike sized packages arrive at the properties in Morzine, from bikes simply wrapped in blankets and taped up to solid metal cases with more locks than Goldie Lookin Chain. Simply put, the easiest travel companion is an Evoc, or similar, bag.

Imitations can be as good, but in our experience, you can't go wrong with the market leaders. Your bike is packed up or built up in under 20 minutes, if you're quick it's under 5. Bike boxes are the other bet. Advantage, they are free, and you can make the bike as padded as you like, so it's pretty safe. But, it's hard to shift, takes ages to pack up and unpack, and the kicker is that you always lose bits inside the bag.

We've seen thousands of bikes built up, and it's always the guy with the old box looking for a bolt or chasing bubble wrap round the car park.

Always take your rotors off just incase and label them front and rear, so they match the brake pads. Pack these in your hold luggage in some cardboard so they don't risk getting bent. Nothing worse than a bent rotor.

Remember check your bike bag or box for any damage at the airport and report anything before you leave.

SHOULD I TAKE CASH OUT BEFORE ARRIVING IN MORZINE? DO YOU NEED A CASH IN MORZINE?

Yes. Shop around in the UK or home for the best rate. Your bank will charge you for transactions in resort.

A Revolut card or similar also works well if you want to be cash free.

Do you need cash in Morzine? Not really, there will be the odd mountain hut  that won't have card facilities and the odd shop or bar that will insist on a minimum fee for card use. Bring between €100 - €300+ depending on how much you tend to sink on a night out, or how much 'free cash' you have that you want to convert to Monopoly money.
