Pre-summer 2017 We headed over to Les Gets to check out the developments on the Chavannes main line that runs from the top of the Chavannes Chair lift down into the centre of Les Gets.
The main red Chavannes track was badly affected by the rain last summer and in some points even collapsed on its self, this damage has been put to right and some great little additions have also been put in, see some pictures of Les Gets in the Portes Du Soleil below.
The picture above shows a new corner that has been built exactly half way down the track, just before the second cattle grid that brings you out onto the fire road. This corner is a welcome addition and has been needed for some time as before it was simply a flat corner with serious braking bumps.
The picture above shows a new table top that has replaced the old semi hip jumps just after the cattle grid, this is about 10ft and easy to clear with speed from the fire road, after the jump there are a few new berms and a new wall ride mixing it up a little from the old straight line.
Below shows the track going further down the hill and into a new left hand berm, once you hit this is back into the old trail and down to the fairly large table before you nip into the woods they have also re shaped the table, see below.
That's as far down the trail as we got yesterday but we know there has been more work, Les Gets opens tomorrow so we will get a helmet cam of the track top to bottom if we can hold on and get it posted up to the Website. Watch this space.
