Operating Period - June / September / October

You know all about our Aosta Valley Backcountry MTB Tour, all the information you need about this amazing trip can be found in the web page that brought you here. Outside of La Thuile Bike Park opening dates of July & August, what will you be riding when the lifts are closed in June and September. We'll go into that below.

La Thuile bike park opens in July and August, Pila opens from mid June until the end of the first week of September, so each week in the dates listed above will differ slightly. If you are set on La Thuile and Pila bike park being integral to the riding week, then you should book with us in July and August.

Is the price the same?

Yes, the cost of the trip is £1199 including the below;

  • Accommodation in a stunning B&B in the centre of Aosta town.
  • Return airport transfers from Geneva, Milan or Turin Airport* with bike carriage.
  • Amazing, locally sourced Breakfast
  • Five full days of guiding and shuttles in the Aosta Valley backcountry
  • Crisp linen, towels and toiletries.
  • Secure bike storage, bike wash down station with Peaty's Products and works area with Park Tool stand, brushes, tools and pump.

  • Welcome dinner and briefing with locally brewed beers
  • Mechanic if required at cost

What changes?

Essentially the tour program remains the same, Arrival and departure Sunday, with a pre programmed down day on the Thursday.

We will swap out the days in Pila and La Thuile and replace them with more shuttle days! Pretty straight forward. It means you'll ride all day epics such as the Becca France ridge and Cogne back country, it means you'll get less trails in over the week and you'll have to work a bit harder to reach some of the peaks, though the riding and experience will be incredible.

Can I still Ride La Thuile?

Yes, but it would make no sense to ride many of the bike park trails without chairlift access. The shuttle van can access three sections of the La Thuile valley. Via the San Bernardo pass to see some of the bike park, and via two shuttle roads that approach the Glacier d'Assaly and on the oppsing side of that beyond the hamlet of Thovex. There's plenty to ride up here.

Can I still ride Pila?

The bike park and the famous ridge line trails? No. The van can't get up past the end of the Aosta Pila gondola. You'll ride everything below this however, so Rientro and the woodlands surrounding Aosta are yours to shred.

How many trails will I ride in a day?

It's impossible to say, some days you will ride 5 - 8, other days maybe just 2. It depends on the day and what your group want to ride, aswell as the weather conditions.

Can I ride on the down day?

Yes, but with the lifts shut you'll have 3 options;

  • Book another shuttle day with our guide and van
  • Hire an E-Bike from Swit shop, metres from your hotel door
  • Self shuttle with your bike and a decent pedal up (around 1 hour to access trails)

How many people on the tour?

In June and September, the tour requires a minimum number of 6 to run. This is ideally suited to 1 or 2 groups.

If you are booking as an individual, you will go onto a reserved list where we can group you with other individuals or smaller groups, however we advise looking at our Epic Tour in the months of July and August.

Assemble your crew for an epic week in the Aosta Valley

Aosta Valley Back Country MTB Tour

If you are planning on coming to the Aosta Valley to ride the back country singletrack and epic ridge line trails on offer, then you're looking in the right spot. Though our Backcountry Tour week has all of this, in June, September and October the chairlifts of Pila and La Thuile will not be open.

So, on weeks out of bike park season you'll do more trekking, more hike a bike and a little more adventure to get to some of the trails less travelled in the Aosta Valley. So in a nutshell you will work harder, you will ride less vertical kilometers descent, but you will adventure more.
