Morzine is well know for it's downhill mountain biking for many reasons from the savagely steep secret tracks on the Pleney to the smooth flowing, jump filled blues and red tracks on Super Morzine. But what really makes Morzine one of the best MTB destinations in the world?
The picturesque village is located in the Portes Du Soleil region of France and is ideally located just over an hour away from Geneva Airport. Most flights from UK airports to Geneva take just 1 to 2 hours so getting here is a doddle.
Morzine is centrally located in the vast Portes du soleil area, which is made up of 12 villages straddling the French and Swiss borders. Connected to these other villages via 21 MTB lifts, Morzine has access to over 50 Downhill Mountain bike trails. You can spend days exploring the varied terrain without needing to pedal, unless you want to. Should you bring your Enduro or Cross-Country bike with you as well, the number of trails becomes almost endless! Not to mention the views! Across 600km of trails there is something for everybody, from tree lined single tracks winding through loamy forests to wider and easier trails across alpine meadows, which cruise by cows grazing on the lush pastures.
Each of the 12 Villages of the Portes du Soliel has their own unique Character. You’ll find quaint little restaurants and bars offering the best of local Faire. Morzine, being the biggest of the villages, has the most variety of dining and drinking options and the best night- life.
Starting with Morzine, This is the home all the local riders. With lunch breaks on the horizon Super Morzine and Le Plenty provide Morzines fastest with steep root covered tracks followed by big berms and jumps up super Morzine.

Going slightly Further afield, Les gets provides a more relaxed approach to riding. With tracks made for all abilities it allows riders to progress before tackling the technical terrain other mountain sides have to offer.
Chatel is the home of ferried. Having played host for countless Mountain style events and with riders like Nico Vink and Vinny T providing key insight into the sculpting of the trails its unsurprising that the place is filled with large gaps and enormous walled berms with which to test your flying abilities.
In-between Morzine and chatel is the small town of Linderet, Playing centre stage in the winter this town is the opposite come the summer but provides some great tracks and the perfect connection with Morzine and the rest of the Portes du Soleil.
In Morzine you’ll also find specialised MTB shops and professional rental and guiding services.
And if you decide to take a break from the endless biking there’s also an indoor and outdoor swimming centre, a large lake for canoeing and water sports, a cinema and an ice hockey arena.
