Morzine is not all about mountain biking. Nor is it all about walking trails off into the hills. The area is teeming with things to see and do with a family, or even as a down day if you are here primarily for the biking.

From tennis to rafting, swimming to canyoning, the skate park to charcuterie and cheese tastings, long hikes into the hills and a round of golf, Morzine has alot more to offer than you may realise.

The pool complex (Aquatic area) down by the picturesque Dereches river walk. Though the boys have to wear Speedos or at least tight fitting trunks (available to buy at the pool via a vending machine). It's a great place to relax with an Olympic sized lap pool, and kids playing area complete with several slides.

Just up from the pool is a meticulously maintained clay tennis court complex, where you can put on your best Sharapova impressions or slide like Rafa. This is all included with your Multi Pass, but you must book at the office and your equipment hire is extra should you need it.

Make your way up to Lake Montriond for one of the most relaxing (depending on your proximity to the kids area) lake experiences possible, breath taking views of waterfalls and mountains whilst you rent a paddle board or canoe and venture out onto the lake. A sectioned off area of the lake is kept for kids to play in, safe in shallow water. Les Gets just 5 minutes drive from Morzine also has a cracking lake to relax by.

For a more action packed activity head to the skate park where kids and adults of all ages shred the concrete bowl and jumps. A project funded by the community, the skatepark is a hub of activity every summers afternoon.

A short walk from Morzine town centre will take you to the base of Nyon's waterfalls, a beautiful stroll or if you fancy flying down them, you can try canyoning, where a guide will send you from varying heights of rock ledges into natural plunge pools.

White water rafting or hydro speeding is a very popular down day out, with moderate rapids of differing levels taking you down toward Lake Geneva, starting a short 20 minute drive from Morzine.

It is rewarding taking your time around the speciality cheese, charcuterie and honey shops of Morzine, there is some really unique produce on offer, much of it made in town. There is an artisan market on every Wednesday morning, in the centre of town in front of Carrefour supermarche.

For those that partake, did you know Avoriaz has a brilliant, long 9 hole golf course and Les Gets a very challenging 18 hole? Golf can even be made the focus of a holiday here, with several world class courses in and around Evian and Geneva.

It is worth having your own transport here if you are with the family. Within 1 hour you can be dropping your jaws at the base of Mont Blanc in Chamonix, driving a boat around Lake Annecy (all you need is a driving license!), or wandering the medieval gardens and old town of Yvoire.
