A classic of downhill mountain biking, Les Gets packs the action, the track is a huge hit with the riders, steep, fast gnarly and raw. The crowds are wild, huge and borderline insane in their love for the spectacle. A downhill race in the Portes du Soleil always delivers and you will not want to miss this one. From the 21st to 31st August, it's on.

The World Cup in Les Gets is always a highlight of the calendar. The track is great, the town comes alive, the riders and teams love it because it feels like a second home to them (and they can get in some sneaky laps in between work) but largely due to the crowd. Search any highlights of World Cups in Les Gets and the crowds lining the track top to bottom, with chainsaws and flares is just something to behold. A real highlight is that though it's wild, it's family friendly with people of all ages there to watch the spectacle.

Just avoid the finish line rush from the locals at finals if a Frenchman is looking likely to win!

Recent Les Gets World Cup's

2024

What a wet and wild weekend of Downhill Hill Mountain Bike racing in Les Gets France! The crowds turned out in their 1000's despite the rain, Greg minnaar the GOAT sat in the hot seat for a long time but ultimately Mr Amaury Pierron obliterated the field and the course. The frenchie is back and he is not messing about!  In the women's elite category, Eleonora Farina took her first ever win with a solid run in shit box conditions and Mille Johnset took second. Local legend Tahnee Seagrave went third after a big crash at the bottom of the course.

2023

The Frenchies were superb and the crowd got exactly what they wanted. the perfect recipe for a huge party! Benoit Coulanges won in front of his home crowd, living just a few miles away down the valley this was a popular result. As if that was not enough, Loris Vergier took third place in the men's final.

Marine Cabirou took her first win since 2020 as Vali Holl crashed in the top turns. Les Gets in back and it is back for good! With the likes of the World Cup, riders like the P2V crew, and awesome trail work all here this place is a great MTB holiday destination.

2022

In 2022 three Frenchman, Loic Bruni, Amaury Pierron and Loris Vergier stood on the Les Gets World Champs podium in front of a crowd more likely to be seen at a Champions League final than a bike race. The scenes were insane as the Gendarmes escorted, paraded and eventually even joined in with the celebrations of these 3 homegrown athletes doing it for France.

The fans made the Les Gets World Cup an event we will never forget

Les Gets World Cup 2023

The Event

Let's not forget the weekend as a whole, it felt like a festival, the whole village was pumping to the sound of music, the team pits were spread out through the village and made for an awesome walk with a beer in hand to see your favourite riders. The Bellevue Apres bike bar and its blazing hot terrace was the sport for the cool kids and VIPs alike! With Warner Brothers Discovery in attendance, this event felt like a melting pot of riders, racers, fans and corporate string pullers. But it worked, it was great to see MTB hitting what felt like the big time!

Discovery Sports and how to Watch the Les Gets World Cup

With the takeover of the Mountain Bike World Cup coverage by Discovery / ESO the calendar is seeing a shake-up and we will all be the ones to benefit. Once the dust settles over any new rules, fees and coverage, what will remain is racing which represents the pinnacle of our sport. Downhill is the F1 of mountain biking and the buzz around a race is a unique joy every mountain biker should experience.

How to Book Les Gets World Cup Accommodation

Regardless of the race, the beneficiaries of all this great news are the everyday mountain bikers in resort.

Booking accommodation with Atlas Ride Co could not be easier with options for apartments, chalets and hotels, catered, self catered or bed & breakfast. With flexible arrival days in hotels you can absolutely make a long weekend out of it and no, the trails are not busy for the World Cup.

There will be a buzz around town but the main action is focused on one hill in Les Gets, Mont Chery, everything else will be as busy as usual, which thanks to upgrades on nearly all lifts, is not that busy at all. we measured queues at their peak in summer 2024 and the longest we could find, outside of the Fox Hit The Park event was only 17 minutes, and that was rare.

The fans will be out in force as always

5 Reasons you need to make a holiday to Les Gets and Morzine happen this summer

  • The World Cup Yes we've covered that but it's going to go off!
  • Great weather. Historically Morzine and Les Gets in September is perfect bike season, nice temperatures but plenty of sun.
  • No Queues The lift queues in 2022 were insane, yet as soon as August starts winding down, while the lifts in Morzine and Les Gets remained open, there was never a queue to get on.
  • Track Condition Yep, this is when trail builders start to get excited and prep for the following season, they'll be excited to get something ready for the World Cup as well, no doubt!
  • Quiet Trails Of course, we hope it's going to be busy, but it's not going to be as crazy as the school holidays, you're going to see a chilled version of Morzine, maybe not so chilled Les Gets!
