The 2015 Summer mountain bike season is just about to kick off out here in Morzine and the Portes Du Soleil so we have been keeping an eye on any and every development from trail building on the Super Morzine side of the hill to the re grading of the Chavannes 4 X track in Les Gets, have a read and get excited for the imminent 2015 summer MTB season in Morzine, Les Gets, Chatel, Morgins, Champery and the full Portes Du Soleil area!!!!
Well after one of the wettest seasons ever witnesses in 2014 we are hoping for a blazing hot, dusty, rain free summer 2015 mountain bike season here in Morzine and by the looks of it so are the trail building crews of Morzine and Les Gets. Below are some of the most important dates and facts for any of you who have not been glued to your Pinkbike forum or Facebook pages awaiting updates so far.
Facts and Dates for Morzine & Portes Du Soleil 2015 MTB season.
First Lifts to open = Is Morgins on the weekend of the 23/05 then Les Gets -
Pre-opening of mountain biking area (Chavannes Express and Nauchets):
- Saturday 30 to Sunday, May 31 2015
- Saturday 6th to Sunday, June 7, 2015
- Saturday 13 to Sunday, June 14, 2015
- Permanently - From Saturday, June 20 to Sunday, September 6, 2015
So Morgins on the 23/05 & Les Gets will be the first resort in the PDS to open its lift, starting for the weekends only on the 30th May!!! What work have we seen going on in Les Gets so far, well have a look at some of the pictures below -
The Les Gets pump track in the middle of town was new for the 2014 summer, this pump track went down a storm with everyone from little kids to parents alike, some local competitions were held and its a great little addition to the town. The pump track has been back up and running since the start of April 2015 and will be in place all summer. Go and have a ride, its not a s easy as it looks. The Chavannes main red line in Les Gets has always been a firm favourite of ours and many holiday makers, it allows you to warm up on an easy gradient with a few jumps and decent berms in there to get the blood flowing also, here they are re shaping the "whoop" section at the bottom of the trail just before you enter the 4X section leading back to the Chavannes chair lift in the centre of Les Gets.
The very bottom of the Long and fast Chavannes main line in Les Gets has a brilliant 4 X section which is getting an overhaul, this section shows a new hip jump and re grading of the old track. Don't forget that the resort of Les Gets has also been very busy on the Mt Chery side of the Mountain with work such as the brand new Air Line and the re making of the Dans Le Gas black trail, both of these trails are brilliant and not for the faint hearted rider.
So that's a little update on Les Gets and Morgins which open its lift before any of the other resorts, now for Morzine. Morzine will open its new and super fast Pleney bubble lift on the 13th June and stay open until the 04th September, the Super Morzine Bubble lift will open on the 26th June and stay open until the 31 August. The Pleney bubble lift will also now stay open until 17:30 pm from the 30/06-24/08 which gives an extra 30 minutes riding time, always a good things.

- A 6 day Portes Du Soleil lift pass is €98 providing access to 12 resorts, 650km of trails and some bloody good riding.
There are some facts and figure for the coming summer and now you want to know what work has been going down so far on the trails, well have a look below again at some pics,
Diggers, we all love diggers, especially if you are from the West Country like we are, so yes diggers, it looks like the boys at Avoriaz MTB have gone and got two brand new ones, this only bodes well for some good trail work and shows their intentions to keep building new trails on the Super Morzine side of the town has not stopped. There are some amazing new trails on that side of the hill with amazing berms and big old jumps!
From the Super Morzine side of the hill you can access the full Portes Du Soleil area adn this is the new Green trails they have built to get you back from Avoriaz to the Super Morine area and down into the best resort in the PDS, Morzine. Last years rain messed it up so a good re grading session has been going on and it should be prime come the 26/06.
